Project Abstract
In 1995 Falster Farm started looking for a small Jersey cow that was once fairly prevalent in the South, know as the "Rabbit Eyed Jersey." It was not until 2005 we were able to locate a specimen that was true to form. We feel that the small number of those cows makes
them nearly financially unobtainable to the average sustainable agrarian practitioner. So, we started a breeding program based on a cross between our very fine Miniature Registered Hereford Bull(s) and the two Old World Jerseys that we found and one Registered Jersey from
South Texas. We gave this cross the name HERSEY™ i.e., (Hereford x Jersey.) We hope to have a good look at the cross by the Fall
of 2007 (refer to my schedule). Since many smaller homesteaders across the country have expressed interest in our breeding programs we plan on using this site to share breeding tactics/plans, pictures of our progress, and useful hints.
