Available Bulls – Red Angus

2019 FORAGE DEVELOPED BULLS

Bull Background:

They say Falster Farm is OLD SCHOOL. That’s because our Bulls are developed slow, without grain. We may only have a small offering due to culling, but we know that it is better to do it this way rather than “bulk-up” on grain and implants – thereby selling an inferior animal that will fall apart on pasture.

What have these bulls had to eat? Mostly Texas Native grass & forbs,  and hay if necessary (and we can afford it.)

Before being sold, all bulls must pass breeding soundness exams and be free of the Osteopetrosis (OS) genetic defect based on testing of either the bull or his ancestry. Unless otherwise stated, these are virgin bulls-no plans for Trich testing at this time, unless required by your state or the bulls reach 2 years of age. Health papers will be provided for out of state sales.

We reserve the right to remove any bull from sale consideration for any reason at any time.

We retain semen rights on all “Falster Farm Genetics” Bulls sold. Semen drawn for in-herd use can be done by the purchaser at anytime without permission. However, if the purchaser desires to draw and market semen from one or more of these bulls, the purchaser must contact “Falster Farm” to arrange a Fair-Trade agreement.

My Thoughts on Red Angus:

I hold two chairs in Nancy’s Kitchen – One easy chair (red leather) and at the head of our dinning table. I generally set in my easy chair in the early hours and drink special coffee that only my Princess can make. With cup-in-hand I listen to her “tell me all about it.” This morning it was about how much less our sales

price per head for the Red Angus then our Mini Hereford Cattle. Well, they are both high quality seed stock, but there is a much smaller gene pool of Miniature Registered Herefords than the Registered Red Angus cattle. And, we don’t sell as many Hereford’s in a year as we do the Red Angus. Well, no that didn’t satisfy her. So we discussed Bulls Available Summer 2019! And here they are.

But for the typical beef market producer, efficient, easy-fleshing Red Angus replacements help you get a handle on feed expenses and make the most of available forage. Females that stay in the herd reduce replacement rates….and provide more valuable heifers to sell….a huge economic driver for cow/calf producers. Falster Farm Red Angus customers have the advantage of an STAYABILITY, which assures a bull’s ability to sire daughters that remain productive past the age of six. Rancher Prerequisites: CALM DISPOSITIONS of Red Angus increase profit through easier handling, better conception rates, faster gains, higher USDA quality grade and fewer dark cutters. RED HIDE COLOR improves HEAT TOLERANCE our southern cowherds. Additionally, Red Angus have no diluter genes, so you will never get gray calves when Red Angus are mated to Continental cattle. POLLED and PIGMENTED come as standard equipment on Red Angus, and translate to profit by eliminating dehorning stress, and greatly reducing sunburned udders and cancer eye. Yes, Falster Farm selects for fly resistance too.

Welcome to Falster Farm and a view of our A2A2 milk cows for sale! We are so excited to be meeting you. We can’t wait to show you all that we have to offer. Since 1998 Karl and Nancy Falster have been producing excellent Mini and Classic size Hereford cattle and over the years they have expanded and improved on those genetics.

In 2003, Karl learned about how Goat’s milk could help offset the pain with his Service Connected Disability from Agent Orange toxification from Viet Nam. Research and hundreds of phone calls lead him (some 10 years later) to the discovery of A2A2 milk cows.

So, in 2013 he purchased his first A2A2 cow, the aged Normande A2A2 cow: PIPERS

PRINCESS. She and her subsequent calf launched the breedings of the A2A2 French Normande and A2A2 Jersey breeds found on Falster Farm today. In 2015 it occurred to him that if the A2A2 Milk Cow was superior in milk production, surly the A2A2 Beef cows would be the same on the beef side.

With Nancy’s help on the phone and emails, they made contact with a hobbyist in the Austin area with the same ideations. An informal partnership developed into finding some old lines of Heritage Hereford and Red Angus with the A2A2 β-casein proteins. Falster leased A2A2 bulls, bought imported French frozen semen and Providentially found the Line Bred Red Angus A2A2 cows he so eagerly sought.

Pure Bred Mini Jersey KNF PUFFY BLOWFISH

Miniature Jersey Cows just don’t get any more feminine looking that our little PUFFY BLOWFISH. She qualifies for the American Miniature Jersey Record Book. However, she is not A2A2.

She is a 1st time mama bred back to the French Normande herd sire HYLASIS, a rare mid sized A2A2 French Bull. Very feminine, halter broke, trained to milk by hand and Surge Milker.  Our “Current Notes”:

7/27/18 Saw her bulling in the morning, around 17:00 I got time to give her a straw of  HYLASIS. Inside, she was very firm and wet, straw went right home.
4/27/18 I have been milking her twice a day followed up by nursing DIANNA. She has responded well to milk training and staking out on the roadside.
4/21/18 Gave her 4ml of Long Range & Multi Min.
